Overview

Uncover truth. Decode evidence. Deliver justice.

If you’re driven by curiosity, fascinated by science and passionate about justice, 五一吃瓜官网 University’s BSc (Hons) Forensic Science is your gateway to a career that transforms science into impact. This programme equips you with the tools and mindset to investigate, analyse and solve complex cases — from the crime scene to the courtroom.

Blending chemistry, biology, digital forensics and law with investigative psychology and criminal profiling, the programme prepares you to work at the frontlines of modern forensic science. Whether you're reconstructing crime scenes, identifying unknown substances or decoding genetic evidence, you’ll develop the technical expertise and ethical clarity to pursue truth and uphold justice in an increasingly complex world.

About the Programme

The BSc (Hons) Forensic Science at 五一吃瓜官网 University is a multidisciplinary programme that blends scientific investigation with real-world forensic application. Designed in line with the evolving needs of the forensic field, this degree equips students with in-depth knowledge in forensic biology, crime scene processing, digital forensics, pathology, psychology and criminal law — all underpinned by a strong foundation in chemistry, which makes up approximately 30% of the programme’s content.

This chemistry-intensive structure empowers students to master critical techniques in analytical chemistry, forensic toxicology and instrumental analysis, enabling them to detect, identify and interpret trace evidence such as drugs, explosives, fibres and bodily fluids. These skills are essential in modern forensic investigations and widely applicable across crime labs, medical facilities and regulatory environments.

You’ll be trained to handle and analyse evidence from collection to courtroom, with modules covering DNA profiling, blood pattern analysis, forensic pathology and cybercrime investigations. Through interactive case studies, mock crime scenes and courtroom simulations, students develop a sharp eye for detail, a strong ethical compass and the ability to apply scientific reasoning under pressure.

Learning is led by experienced academics and practicing forensic experts — including former investigators, forensic chemists and legal consultants — ensuring students are exposed to both foundational theory and industry realities. Fieldwork, professional workshops and industry placements further reinforce the programme’s practical edge.

Assessment methods include laboratory-based evaluations, evidence interpretation reports, scene documentation, oral presentations, written exams and a capstone research project in forensic science. This holistic approach ensures graduates leave with the analytical, technical and communication skills needed in the forensic profession.

Graduates will be career-ready for roles in forensic laboratories, law enforcement agencies, toxicology units, DNA testing centres, regulatory bodies or private consultancy firms. The strong scientific base also opens pathways to postgraduate study in forensic science, biotechnology, criminology and analytical chemistry.
