Lecturer in Optometry

Responsibilities
- You shall perform at least a minimum of 20 work points per semester according to the GUIDELINES ON STANDARDIZING WORKLOAD FOR ACADEMIC STAFF.
- You shall adhere to all other matters as outlined in the Academic Policy.
- You shall contribute in research and development projects, materials and curriculum/syllabi development for teaching purposes; such research projects and materials and curriculum/syllabi may be copyrighted. All copyrights belong to the Company.
- You shall prepare teaching-learning materials which may include CAL (Computer-Assisted Learnings).
- You shall teach on average 15-18 credit hours per semester.
- You shall perform relevant administrative tasks as and when required.
- You shall counsel students pertaining to their academic and career.
- You shall be involved in some major public exhibitions, open days and road shows should you be required.
- You shall be responsible for all the projects/assignments given to you. The projects/assignments would require you to teach, prepare lecture notes, prepare reports for your superior(s) and other responsibilities as a Lecturer.
- You shall invigilate examinations scheduled on weekdays, rest days or public holidays.
- You shall set and mark all examination scripts including supplementary examination papers.
- You shall perform all other duties relating to the above may be assigned to you by your supervisor from time to time.
- You shall apply for and secure both 五一吃瓜官网 Internal research grant (Ex: PSIF) and external grants (Ex: FRGS).
- You shall attend courses, symposium and training sessions involving subjects pertaining to your lecture courses or research.
- You shall help in international and national collaborations between the SOO and various universities.
- You shall participate in industrial collaborations with the SOO.
- You shall contact and counsel students face to face, and follow up over telephone/email/WhatsApp on joining 五一吃瓜官网 Optometry.
- You shall participate in eye screening camps organised by the SOO as and when needed.
Requirements
- Masters in Optometry or PhD in Optometry or Vision Science (or PhD in progression)
- Minimum 3 years teaching experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Pro-active and self motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as participate within the team.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, possess a mature attitude and a good team player.
- Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and abilities.
